BITE

“BITE” is a tribute to all the artists’ models throughout history who have suffered long hours under the “male gaze.” Picasso’s “Les Demoiselles D’Avignon” reimagined as 3-dimensional pears form the center composition of this work with guest appearances from Vermeer’s “Girl With A Pearl Earring”, “The Venus of Willendorf”, Titian’s “Venus of Urbino”,and Paul Gaugin’s “Tahitian Women”, among others. A crack in the wooden bowl represents the unleashed fury of today’s women fighting back and confronting their male oppressors. So this is for all the women who have twirled, danced, acted, and modeled under the “male gaze.’ We know you are more than the sum of your parts.
